Disney Parks Ticket Price Increases; Annual Pass Cost Hikes

You could get whiplash these days from trying to follow which parks are offering discounts to encourage 2024 travel dates, while other parks will be seeing ticket price increases.  Some parks are getting both discounts and ticket increases. And while the Disney World Annual Passes will still be available, they are now going to cost you more, anywhere from $30-$50 more.

At Disney World, the Annual Pass changes include: 

 

Pixie Dust Pass moves from $399 to $439 (plus tax). This pass sees an increase of 10%.  This level is for Florida residents only.

 

Pirate Pass increases from $749 to $799 (plus tax). This pass sees an increase of 6.7%.  This level is for Florida residents only.

 

Sorcerer Pass goes from $969 to $999 (plus tax). The Sorcerer Pass is seeing an increase of 3.1%.  This level is for Florida residents and eligible Disney Vacation Club members only.

 

Incredi-Pass bumps up from $1,399 to $1,449 (plus tax). The Incredi-Pass is seeing an increase of 3.6%. This level has no blockout dates.

 

As always, there is a varying range of benefits and blockout dates for each level, which you can check out on the Disney World Annual Pass website. 

 

While Annual Passholders might be feeling the whoosh of their wallets this time, the price of daily tickets to Disney World theme parks did not increase. (However, Disneyland in California can’t say the same… more on that in a moment.)  Disney World one-day tickets currently range from $109-$159, depending on day and season.

 

Annual Passholders get free parking as a perk of their pass, but for everyone else, the cost of parking at one of Disney World's theme parks is going up $5, to $30 per vehicle per day.   

 

In other news, All-day Park Hopping returns to the Walt Disney World Resort starting January 9, 2024. (Currently, Park Hopping does not start until 2 p.m. at Disney World parks.)

 

Now, over to the West Coast…

 

According to the Orange County Register, “Disneyland raised prices nearly across the board effective today, Oct. 11, for every type of ticket except the most basic day pass, which will remain $104 per day.”

  
With the increase, daily admission prices will be $104, $119, $134, $154, $169, $184 or $194 for the seven different tiers, depending on the day, reports the O.C. Register.  The $194 admission days represent an 8.4% increase for that particular one day, one park pass.

  
“Price hikes on regular daily tickets and multiday passes vary from $5 to $65, depending on the offering. This represents increases from 3.9% to 15.7%,” as reported in the Orange County Register.  

 

There were also increases in costs for the Park Hopper add-on, which allows guests to visit both of California’s parks in the same day. While there was no change in the single day Park Hopper price, it will now cost from $5 to $15 more for the other options, depending on length of ticket. At an increase of up to 25%, the new Park Hopper prices will range $65-$75.

 

And while Disneyland has not reopened sales of its Magic Key Annual Passes, several of the levels are available for renewal (with varying benefits per level) at increased costs. The Orange County Register lists the new prices, with increases from 3.1% to 21.5%, as:

 

• Imagine Key Pass went from $449 to $499 (up $50).
• Enchant Key Pass went from $699 to $849 (up $150).
• Believe Key Pass went from $1,099 to $1,249 (up $150).
• Inspire Key Pass went from $1,599 to $1,649 (up $50).

The Orange County Register also reported on a number of parking fee changes at Disneyland, noting,

“It will now set you back $35 to park a passenger car at the theme parks, up $5 for most types of parking. Most hotel parking also went up $5. Downtown Disney is the only parking cost that remains unchanged, at $10 for the first hour to a maximum of $66 for the day, without validation.”

Yet More Ticket Pain for Disneyland Guests

Our sympathies go out to our fellow Disney fans on the West Coast. They have not been having a good run lately.  On top of the fact that their park was closed much longer than all the other parks (thirteen months!), passholders on the West Coast have been struggling to find theme park reservation availability right now.  As in, booked pretty solid for the next two months… There are currently only 2 days open for Disneyland Park, and less than two dozen weekdays available for California Adventure for the highest tier through the end of the year. Even fewer days are available at the lower tiers.

 

That’s a painful reality on top of the thousands some have shelled out for their new “annual passes,” now called “Magic Keys” on the California shores.

Now comes word that Disneyland’s Dream Level Magic Key (annual pass) has sold out. While that is likely a disappointment for those guests looking for a Key that would allow them unlimited access to Disneyland, it potentially provides some relief for the jammed-up search for open theme park reservations for Key holders.  

 

Dream level ($1,399) was the highest tier of Magic Key passes, giving guests admissions with no block-out dates and entry to both theme parks on any day of the year, as well as 20% off some merchandise, and 15% off some dining. Dream Key guests could hold up to 6 theme park reservations at a time, and standard theme park parking was included.  

The Believe, Enchant, or Imagine Keys are still available at this time, with lower tier perks.

 

For those guests without parking included in their Key passes, it was also announced that the cost of parking at Disneyland Resort will increase from $25 per day to $30 per day.

 

In other distressing news for guests,  Disneyland has changed its ticket tier system, moving from a 5-tier “demand pricing system” for single day tickets to a new 6-tier system. Ticket pricing varies with the time of the year and the day of the week.  The highest demand travel times will now be the Tier 6 level, with the highest ticket costs. For example, Tier 6 will cost a whopping $164 for a 1-day, 1-park ticket. Add on the Park Hopper option for the day, and you hit a single day high of $224.

 

1-day, 1-park tickets on Tier 1 days will stay the same at $104. However, all of the other ticket combinations have been increased by anywhere from $5 to $25. According to the Los Angeles Times,“Daily ticket prices are jumping 3% to 8%, with standard daily parking rates going up by 20%. The parks last raised ticket prices by as much as 5% in February of 2020.”

 

(The Los Angeles Times also notes that the inflation rate in the U.S. was 5.4% for the 12 months that ended in September.)

 

Price increases for 1-day adult tickets include:

• Tier 1: $104 (previously $114)
• Tier 2: $119 (previously $114)
• Tier 3: $134 (previously $124)
• Tier 4: $149 (previously $139)
• Tier 5: $159 (previously $154)
• Tier 6: $164  (new tier)

 

Price increases for single day Park Hopper tickets are:

• Tier 1: $164 (previously $159)
• Tier 2: $179 (previously $169)
• Tier 3: $194 (previously $179)
• Tier 4: $209 (previously $194)
• Tier 5: $219 (previously $209)
• Tier 6: $224 (new tier)

 

Price increases for 1-park per day/multi-day adult tickets are:

• 2-Day tickets: $255 (previously $235)
• 3-Day tickets: $330 (previously $310)
• 4-Day tickets: $360 (previously $340)
• 5-Day tickets: $380 (previously $360)

 

Prices increases for multi-day Park Hoppers:

• 2-Day Park Hopper: $315 (previously $290)
• 3-Day Park Hopper: $390 (previously $365)
• 4-Day Park Hopper: $420 (previously $395)
• 5-Day Park Hopper: $440 (previously $415)

 

Head to the Disneyland website for prices for specific days and calendars for your travel plans, (or ask your friendly travel agent for assistance in maximizing your travel plans as the Disney tiers and reservations systems get more complex).

Disney’s Price Increases: The List

That “thud” sound you just heard was Disney dropping another price increase on parkgoers.  In addition to recent food price hikes, the cost of everything from Annual Passes to Park Hopper Add-ons went up today.

You can get the details of what is included at each price category at the Annual Pass page on the Disney Parks website at https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/passes/.

At Disney World

• Disney Platinum Pass from $1,119.00 to $1,195.00 (increase of $76.00)

• Disney Platinum Plus Pass from $1,219.00 to $1,295.00 (increase of $76.00)

• Water Parks Annual Pass is now $139.00

• Park Hopper Add-on ranges from $65.00-$85.00 per ticket, based on the number of days (up from $60-$80 per ticket)

• Park Hopper Plus (includes water parks) Add-on ranges from $85.00- $105.00 per ticket, based on the number of days  (up from $80-$100 per ticket)

• Florida Resident Silver Annual Pass from $519.00 to  $539.00 ($20 increase)

• Florida Resident Gold Annual Pass from $699.00 to $719.00 ($20 increase)

• Florida Resident Platinum Annual Pass:  $899.00 (no change)  

• Florida Resident Platinum Plus Annual Pass: $999.00 (no change)  

• Florida Resident Theme Park Select Pass: $439.00 (no increase)

California wasn’t immune to the bump in ticket prices, either. Here’s what happened on the West Coast:

Previously tickets were in three categories (Low Demand, Regular Demand and Peak Demand), making it slightly harder to compare price increases. New ticket prices are in five tiers now:

• One Day, One Park Tier One:  $104.00
• One Day, One Park Tier Two: $114.00
• One Day, One Park Tier Three: $124.00
• One Day, One Park Tier Four: $139.00
• One Day, One Park Tier Five: $154.00

One Day Park Hopper Disneyland

Previous prices began at $154 for low demand days, and ranged to $199 for the top category. New Prices, in more tier categories than before:

• One Day Park Hopper Tier One: $159.00
• One Day Park Hopper Tier Two: $169.00
• One Day Park Hopper Tier Three: $179.00
• One Day Park Hopper Tier Four: $194.00
• One Day Park Hopper Tier Five: $209.00
