Move over, Elsa. Winnie is coming to town.

When COVID-19 unexpectedly brought New York City’s Broadway district to a grinding halt, no one realized that the Frozen on Broadway performance on March 11, 2020, would be Anna and Elsa’s last, with Disney Theatrical Productions reluctantly deciding to permanently close the production at the St. James Theatre a few weeks later, a casualty of the pandemic.

Now, word comes that there will be a new Disney production arriving in the Big Apple.  Disney Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Stage Adaptation begins performances October 21, 2021, with tickets going on sale on June 14 at the Winnie the Pooh show’s website. Todaytix presales will be available starting today (June 1, 2021).

The show will feature life-sized puppets of the beloved Hundred Acre Wood characters in a new story, told through the eyes of the characters themselves. The musical was created by Jonathan Rockefeller, who also brought to life The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show and Paddington Gets in a JamWinnie the Pooh: The New Musical is produced in association with Disney Theatrical Productions, and will showcase Grammy-award-winning music by the Sherman Brothers, with additional songs by A.A. Milne.

The show is expected to run 60 minutes, with no intermission. The theatre is located at Times Square’s Theatre Row, 410 W. 42nd Street in New York City. Ticket prices start at $35.
