Disney Springs is a good choice to sample lots of different cuisines, and the restaurants there often change up the offerings on their menus to honor the monthly celebrations presented throughout the year by Disney. Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month; Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month; “Celebrate Soulfully”; and even the Great Irish Hooley at Raglan Road are just a few of the ways that Disney Springs, and thus the restaurants, keep things interesting culinarily, and offer some fun and unique dishes. One of our family’s favorite celebrations is the annual Flavors of Florida fest.

It’s a celebration of all things Florida (but mainly citrus!), and focuses on the fresh and yummy flora and fauna that call Florida home. Think oranges; Key Lime; strawberries; watermelon; fresh fish like tuna and mahi mahi; shrimp; and Conch fritters.  Even Gideon’s has a Key Lime chocolate chip cookie!

“Flavors of Florida” kicks off July 1st and continues through August 13, 2023.  You’ll have lots of delicious choices to dig into at more than 30 Disney Springs locations. To make things even more exciting this year, there will be a series of culinary demonstrations presented by CORKCICLE and headlined by some of Disney Springs’ famed chefs and restauranteurs. The demonstrations are free, and will take place at Waterview Park at Disney Springs, but you have to be registered ahead of time as space is limited. (Registration will open soon.) The line-up includes:

• Master Sommelier George Miliote of Wine Bar George (July 7 at 10:30 a.m.)

Mr. Miliote and his team will demonstrate how to make “Dicuru Burrata,” their Flavors of Florida menu item.

• Chef James Petrakis of The Polite Pig (July 14 at 10:30 a.m.)

Chef Patrakis will be demonstrating how to make “Key West Pink Shrimp Ceviche,” the Flavors of Florida menu item at The Polite Pig.

• Chef Art Smith of Homecomin’  (July 21 at 10:30 a.m.)

Chef Smith will be demonstrating how to make one of his most famous dishes - Shrimp & Grits.

• Steve Lewis – Owner and Creator of Gideon’s Bakehouse  (July 28 at 10:30 a.m.)

In this presentation, you’ll get a glimpse into the origins of Gideon's Bakehouse.

• Chefs Georg Paulussen, Jennifer Ladisky and Gary Miles  (August 4 at 10:30 a.m.)

These members of the Disney Culinary Team will be demonstrating how to make some of the Flavors of Florida items served at select Disney Springs restaurants. Items may include dishes from Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar and The Ganachery. (And you might even get to sample!)
