When it comes to celebrating the Christmas season, there seem to be four categories of people in the world.
First, there are the post-Thanksgiving people who make themselves very clear that nothing related to Christmas can happen until the day after Thanksgiving.
Second, the November people usually take a few days off after Halloween, and then sometime in the first or second week of November, the Christmas music starts playing, decorations are unpacked, and gift buying definitely accelerates.
Third, the Church calendar people take, well, the Christian Church calendar very seriously, and Advent (starting on December 1 this year) is treated as a time only of preparation and expectation. As a result, the Christmas season officially gets rolling after Advent, that is, with the 12 Days of Christmas beginning on Christmas.
Fourth, Disney people take their cue from the Disney parks when it comes to holidays. That means that the Christmas holiday season kicks off this Sunday evening, November 3, with the debut of “A Frozen Holiday Wish” at the Magic Kingdom. Fortunately, you don’t have to be at the Magic Kingdom to enjoy this Disney holiday greenlight, as “A Frozen Holiday Wish” will be livestreamed at 6:10 PM EST on the Disney Parks Blog on Nov. 3. When you visit the parks blog, the livestream will be the top story.
Where do you fit among these four types? I’m actually a part-November person and a part-Church calendar person – which effectively means that I get in a Christmas mode in early November and it runs through the 12 Days of Christmas that ends on January 5.
