Fun Eats at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop

So, you and some friends just caught a movie at Disney Springs. Where’s a great place to grab a bite to eat and perhaps have a lively talk about who liked and didn’t like the film? Obviously, there are plenty of great places that we would recommend, and have done so, right there in Disney Springs. But here’s what we did recently: Journeyed over to Disney’s Beach Club Resort to visit the Beaches & Cream Soda Shop.

The setting and décor are great. It’s nostalgia time on the Atlantic seashore, and the restaurant is filled with fun Disney artwork amidst a 1950s-ish feel. And why not play something foot-tapping on the juke box, too? Also, the 3-acre Stormalong Bay pool/water park is just outside. Oh yeah, and it’s open until 11:00 PM as well, so it fits for the post-movie discussion.

As for the food, some delicious treats rose above expectations. We had the Cheese and Bacon Tots appetizer – with the crispy tots, a lighter cheese sauce, bacon, ranch and onions, all making for a great combination.

The Angus Burger was better than most Disney burgers, but not exactly out of the ordinary.

However, the Reuben Sandwich was rather tasty. The corned beef was quite good, not too salty, the cheese was gooey, and the sandwich was toasted nicely.

As for dessert, we didn’t go for the Kitchen Sink, loaded with 8 scoops of ice cream smothered in a wide variety of toppings (maybe next time, if we go just for dessert!). But we did go second best with the Mini Mickey Sink, which is very sharable, and includes vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream, along with pineapple, strawberry, hot fudge, peanut butter, whipped cream … and more! And the souvenir bowl is pretty cool.

The Beaches & Cream Soda Shop ranks as a great place for a casual meal that reminds you, in a fun, beachy kind of way, that you’re in Walt Disney World.
