Grabbing a Bite at Wilderness Lodge’s Territory Lounge

I’ll find almost any excuse to visit the Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World. As billed, it captures a turn-of-the-century national park lodge, and ranks as one of my favorite resorts on property.

On a recent visit, I decided to duck in for a drink and bite to eat at the Territory Lounge. I’m probably not alone in having passed this lounge by and not thinking much about it. Well, I won’t be making that mistake again. I wound up having a nice meal.

As for my beverage of choice, the Territory Refresher – Hendrick’s, Crème de Banana, pineapple, watermelon and lime – lived up to its name. It was sweet, smooth and highly refreshing. It’s an easy choice to beat the Florida heat.

The Artisanal Cheese and Charcuterie was excellent. The board featured a wide array of tastes – smoky, sharp, sweet, crunchy, smooth, and spicy. The duck spread was especially good. This was a mix meant to be eaten and enjoyed slowly, to be savored.

And finally, my excellent waitress – Dana Leigh – recommended that the Flourless Chocolate Cake Cauldron dessert be accompanied by two scoops of vanilla ice cream. The cake was light, warm and very chocolaty, and yes, the vanilla ice cream was the perfect partner.

The Territory Lounge makes for a pleasant stop, whether for a drink, a snack or a meal. The waitress noted that the menu will be changing in about two months. So, if you get a chance, stop in for what’s offered now, and then check back after the menu gets an overhaul. That’s my plan.
