If you’re looking to get away from all of the craziness by going on a Disney Cruise, well, you’re going to have to wait even longer. Disney announced today that the Disney Cruise Line was cancelling all departures through the end of this year.

Once again, those with cruises already booked during this time period will be able to get a credit toward a future cruise or a full refund.

Disney joins Carnival and Royal Caribbean in announcing cruise cancellations through the end of 2020.

These announcements came even with a shift in policy from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that was announced on October 30. The CDC “issued a Framework for Conditional Sailing Order that introduces a phased approach for the safe and responsible resumption of passenger cruises.”

The CDC guidelines will take a considerable amount of time to implement. As described by the CDC, the process will feature the following:

During the initial phases, cruise ship operators must demonstrate adherence to testing, quarantine and isolation, and social distancing requirements to protect crew members while they build the laboratory capacity needed to test crew and future passengers. Subsequent phases will include simulated (mock) voyages with volunteers playing the role of passengers to test cruise ship operators’ ability to mitigate COVID-19 risk, certification for ships that meet specific requirements, and return to passenger voyages in a manner that mitigates COVID-19 risk among passengers, crew members, and communities.

Disney said, “We are carefully reviewing the guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and working together with industry partners on a path to resuming operations.”
