Review/Analysis

Since I was a kid, the grilled
cheese sandwich – in all its forms – has been a favorite. And given that
Woody’s Lunch Box is located in Walt Disney World’s Toy Story Land – that is,
Andy’s backyard come to life – it’s fitting that grilled cheese options are on
the menu.
I had the chance to sample two
sandwiches. The BBQ Brisket Melt is a tasty, grilled combination of smoked beef
brisket, BBQ sauce, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses on sourdough bread.
Then there’s the Grilled
Three-Cheese Sandwich. This offers provolone and cheddar cheeses with – get
this! – a cheddar cream cheese spread on grilled, garlic buttered artisan
French bread.
Does the BBQ Brisket Melt beat out
the Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich? Well, that’s a tough call. It requires more
research, which I’ll be more than happy to engage in during the next visit.
Let’s just say that Mom never served grilled cheese sandwiches like these.
(Sorry, Mom, but you always taught me to tell the truth.)
Oh yeah, and the Ice Cream Float with Barq's Root Beer is a
delightful classic.
There are
other menu items that require still more research. That includes the “Totchos,”
which I’m ashamed to say I didn’t get the chance to try. My mouth waters
reading the online menu description: “Potato
Barrels coated with Beef and Bean Chili, Shredded Cheese and signature Queso
with Tomatoes and Corn Chips finished with Sour Cream and a sprinkle of Green
Onions.”
And yes, I
really want to dive into the “Breakfast Bowl”: “Hearty portion of Potato
Barrels smothered in Smoked Brisket Country Gravy, Scrambled Eggs and a
sprinkling of Green Onions.” I’m not sure if that would kick start the day, or
send me back to the hotel room for a nap – but I want it!
And how
about the “Smoked Turkey Breakfast Sandwich” as a unique morning selection – “Thick-sliced
Smoked Turkey Breast, Melted Swiss Cheese, and Scrambled Eggs on Grilled
Sourdough”?
The only complaints worth mentioning
have to do with seating – an issue across much of Walt Disney World. Quite
simply, Woody’s Lunch Box could use more tables to enjoy the fun food. And it
wouldn’t be bad if at least some of the area was sheltered from the hot sun or
the occasional rain downpours. Perhaps a roof built to look like one of Andy’s
cardboard boxes.
But these are minor points. While in
Disney’s Hollywood Studios, head over to Woody’s Lunch Box for delightful quick
serve sandwiches, drinks and more. It’s tasty fun.
